The New Chancellor of the Federal University of
Technology, Akure, FUTA, the Emir of Bauchi, Dr.
Rilwan Suleiman Adamu, has pledged to work for
the development of the Institution and sustain its
position as the country’s leading University of
Technology. Dr. Adamu gave the pledge when a
delegation from the University comprising Dr.
Muhammed Shata, the Pro-Chancellor, Prof.
Adebiyi G. Daramola, the Vice-Chancellor, Dr.
(Mrs.) Modupe O. Ajayi, the Registrar and Mr
Adegbenro Adebanjo, Principal Assistant
Registrar visited him in his palace. Welcoming
the delegation, Dr Adamu described the visit as
the beginning of a partnership that will take
FUTA to greater heights. He said his
appointment was a call to service.
“I thank Almighty God and the Authority for my
appointment. It is a call to serve and since FUTA
is already a leading University, I will do my best
to consolidate this position by working with the
great men and women and students of the
Institution in order to reposition the University for
Better Service to Nigeria and humanity. We shall
continue to promote peace and academic
excellence and my own agenda will be to push
FUTA to greater heights”, the Chancellor Said.
Earlier in his address, the Pro-Chancellor, Dr.
Muhammed Shata, said the visit was to brief the
new Chancellor on the current state of affairs in
the University and formally invite him to direct
proceedings at the 27th Convocation Ceremony
of the University scheduled for Saturday , 21st
November, 2015. In his own remark, the Vice-
Chancellor said he was optimistic that the
University under the watch of the new Chancellor
will soar to greater heights due to his
background and clout.
