Admission Requirements for Part-Time Courses
GENERAL ENTRY REQUIREMENTS FOR
NATIONAL DIPLOMA (ND) PROGRAMMES
1. MANAGEMENT& BUSINESS STUDIES
(i) ND ACCOUNTANCY
(ii) ND BANKING AND FINANCE
(iii) ND BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION &
MANAGEMENT
(iv) ND INSURANCE
(v) ND MARKETING
SSCE or WASCE or GCE O’Level or NECO with at
least 5 credits at two sitting, which must include:
English Language (not Literature in English) and
Mathematics and any three subjects from the
following: Economics/Commerce, Business
Methods/Business Studies, Accounts/ Book
Keeping, Literature in English, Government,
Statistics, Geography, Government / History,
Yoruba/Hausa/Igbo, Biology /Agricultural
Science, Office Practice, Physics/Chemistry (only
one Science subject: ) OR:
NABTEB: With at least 5 credits at two sitting,
which must include: Mathematics & English
Language
(a) GENERAL EDUCATION COMPONENT( TWO
Subjects form the following)
Economics/ Commerce, Physics/ Chemistry,
Government, Lit. in English, Social Studies and
Biology
(b) TRADE COMPONENT/TRADE RELATED
COMPONENTS ( ONE Subject from the following)
Principles of Accounts, Social Studies, Office
Practice, Information Communication Technology,
vi. OFFICE TECHNOLOGY AND MANAGEMENT
SSCE or WASCE or GCE O’level or NECO with at
least five credits at one sittings, which must
include: English Language, Mathematics and any
three from the following: Business Methods,
Economics/ Commerce, Typewriting, Shorthand,
Principles of Accounts/ Book Keeping,
Mathematics, History, Statistics, Literature-in-
English, Government, Geography, Biology, CRK/
Islamic Studies, any one science subject.
OR
NABTEB: With at least 5 credits at two sitting,
which must include: English Language ,
Mathematics and any other three from the
following:
(a) GENERAL EDUCATION COMPONENT( TWO
Subjects from the following)
Principles of Account/ Book Keeping, Economics/
Commerce, Physics/ Chemistry, Government/
Social Studies, Mathematics, Lit. in English and
Biology/ Agricultural Science.
(b) TRADE COMPONENT/TRADE RELATED
COMPONENTS ( ONE Subject from the following)
Shorthand, Typewriting, Office Practice and
Information Communication Technology,
2. COMMUNICATION & LIBERAL STUDIES
( i) MASS COMMUNICATION
SSCE or WASCE O’level or NECO with at least
five (5) credits at two sitting, which must
include: English Language, and Mathematics and
any other three subjects from: History, Literature
in English, Economics/Commerce, Fine Arts,
Government, Biology, Physics, Chemistry, Basic
Electricity, Geography, Typewriting, Book
Keeping / Principles of Accounting, Nigerian
Language (Yoruba, Hausa and Igbo)
Passes in Physics or Electronics/Basic Electricity
will be an advantage.
3. PURE & APPLIED SCIENCE
(i) SCIENCE LABORATORY TECHNOLOGY
SSCE or WASCE or GCE O’level or NECO with at
least five credits at two sittings, which must
include: Mathematics, English Language and two
subjects from Physics, Biology/ Agricultural
Science, Health Science, Geography, and one
other subject from Technical Drawing, Metal or
Wood-Work, Basic Electricity, Economics, Further
Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology/Agricultural
Science and Physics and Fine Art
At least a Pass in each of the three basic
Sciences i.e. Biology, Chemistry, Physics is
required.
4. TECHNOLOGY
(i) COMPUTER SCIENCE TECHNOLOGY
SSCE or WASCE or GCE O’level or NECO with at
least five (5) credits at one sitting, which must
include Mathematics, English Language, a basic
science, and any two other subjects chosen from
the following: Economics, Geography, Chemistry,
Further/Additional Mathematics, Physics,
Statistics, Biology/ Agricultural Science and
Typewriting.
Candidates are expected to have at least a pass
in Physics. OR
NABTEB: With at least five credits at two sitting,
which must include Mathematics, English
Language, Physics and Basic Electronics and two
subjects from the following: Biology, Chemistry,
and General Metal Work.
(ii) FOOD TECHNOLOGY
SSCE or WASCE or GCE O’level or NECO with a
minimum of five credits at two sittings, which
must include English Language, Chemistry,
Mathematics, Biology/ Agricultural Science/
Health Science and any one subject from:
Physics, Economics/ Commerce, Additional/
Further Mathematics, Technical Drawing, Home
Economics, Food & Nutrition, Geography . At
least Pass in Physics is compulsory.
5. ENVIRONMENTAL STUDIES
(i) ND BUILDING TECHNOLOGY
SSCE or WASCE or GCE O’level or NECO with at
least five credits at two sittings which must
include: English Language, Mathematics, Physics
and any two of the following: Economics/
Commerce, Technical Drawing/Fine Art,
Chemistry, Geography, Wood-Work, Biology,
Religious Knowledge, Metal Work, Building
Construction and Physics.
A Pass in Fine Art or Technical Drawing will be
an advantage. OR
NABTEB: With at least five credit at two sittings,
which must include: Mathematics, English
Language, Physics and two subjects from the
following:,
(a) GENERAL EDUCATION COMPONENT( ONE
Subject form the following)
Physics, Chemistry, Biology/ Agricultural Science,
Economics/ Commerce, Fine Art,/ Technical
Drawing, Geography.
(b) TRADE COMPONENT/TRADE RELATED
COMPONENTS( ONE Subject from the following)
Block Laying & Concreting, Carpentry & Joinery,
Furniture Craft Practice, General Woodwork
Painting & Decoration, Machine Wood Creating.
6. ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGY PROGRAMMES
(i). COMPUTER ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGY
(ii) CIVIL ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGY
(iii) ELECTRICAL/ELECTRONICS ENGINEERING
TECHNOLOGY
(iv) MECHANICAL ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGY
SSCE or WASCE or GCE O’ level or NECO with at
least five credit at two sittings, which must
include English Language, Mathematics, Physics
and Chemistry and one subject from: Biology/
Agricultural Science, Technical Drawing, Basic
Electronics/Basic Electricity, Auto Mechanics,
Metal Work, Woodwork (for Civil Engineering
Technology ), Further Mathematics, Economics/
Commerce, Geography.(For Agricultural
Engineering: Biology/Agricultural Science, Food &
Nutrition and at least a pass in Chemistry and
Biology/Agricultural Science are necessary).
OR
NABTEB REQUIREMENTS:
(i) CIVIL ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGY
(ii) COMPUTER ENGINEERING
(iii) ELECTRICAL/ELECTRONICS ENGINEERING
TECHNOLOGY
At least five credits at two sittings, which must
include Mathematics, English Language, Physics
and Chemistry and one subject from the
following.
TRADE COMPONENT/TRADE RELATED
COMPONENTS( ONE Subject from the following)
Basic Electronics/Basic Electricity, Auto-
Mechanics, Block Laying & Concreting, Carpentry
& Joinery, Furniture Craft Practice, Domestic &
Industrial Installations, Cable Jointing & Battery
Charging, Winding of Electrical Machines.
(iv) MECHANICAL ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGY
NABTEB With at least five credits at two sittings,
which must include Mathematics, English
Language, Physics and two other subject from
the following:
(a) GENERAL EDUCATION COMPONENT( ONE
Subject form the following)
Chemistry, Biology, General Woodwork, Basic
Electronics, and Building/Engineering Drawing.
(b) TRADE COMPONENT/TRADE RELATED
COMPONENTS( ONE Subject from
the following)
General Metal Work, Mechanical Engineering
Craft Practice, Fabrication & Welding,
Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Work, Foundry
Craft Practice, Motor Vehicle Mechanics.
C. MATURE CANDIDATES
Candidates with lower qualifications than the
ones stated above but with at least three
(3) relevant credits and two (2) passes could be
considered for admission provided
such candidates are above the age of 40 years
and have a minimum of 15 years work
experience. <
D. HIGHER NATIONAL DIPLOMA PROGRAMMES
1. ENGINEERING
a. Civil Engineering Technology
b. Electrical/Electronic Engineering Technology
with options in
(i) Electronics & Telecommunications
(ii) Electrical Power & Machines
c. Computer Engineering Technology
d. Mechanical Engineering Technology with

2. MANAGEMENT & BUSINESS STUDIES

E. General Entry Requirements
Applicants who possess the following
qualifications may be considered for admission
into Higher National Diploma programmes:
(i ). SSCE/GCE/NECO/NABTEB entry
requirements for the corresponding National
Diploma Programmes;
(ii) The National Diploma with a minimum of
LOWER CREDIT classification in the cognate
National Diploma (ND) programme from any
NBTE recognized Institutions;
(iii). Candidates must have at least one- year
work experience in the field of specialization;
(iv) Candidates with Pass classification will be
required to have at least two (2) years work
experience before he can be considered for
admission.

      SSCE or WASCE or GCE ‘O’ Level or NECO or
      NABTEB with at least 5 Credits obtained at not

      Language, Mathematics and three other relevant
      subjects related
      to the programme of study.
      (b) Higher National Diploma (HND) Programmes
      1. Candidates are required to satisfy SSCE/GCE/
      NECO/NABTEB entry requirements for the
      corresponding National Diploma programme.
      2. Candidates are required to have completed a
      relevant National Diploma Programme not below
      LOWER CREDIT classification.
      3. Candidates are required to have at least one
      year post- ND industrial work experience.
      D. Mature Candidates:
      Candidates with lower qualifications than the
      ones stated above but with at least three (3)
      relevant Credits and two (2) Passes could be
      considered for admission, provided such
      candidates are not below the age of 40 years
      and have a minimum of 15 years work experience
      at a SUPERVISORY LEVEL
      E. Important Notice
      1. Candidates are advised to ensure that they
      personally and not by proxy fill in correct
      information. The Polytechnic would not be liable
      for any erroneous information contained in the
      filled form.
      2. Each applicant is advised to provide correct
      and functional e-mail address and telephone
      number(s) when completing the application form.

      Procedure for Online Applications
      Applicants are expected to:
      i. Log on to LASPOTECH’s website at http://
      http://www.mylaspotech.edu.ng
      ii. Click on the “2015/2016 Admission
      Applications” link on the Navigator plane.
      iii. Select the programme i.e.” Part-time ND or
      HND” OR” Full –time HND”.
      iv. Click on “Continue”.
      v. Fill the profile form and choose a suitable
      username as your username and password of
      your choice (your password should contain
      alphabet, numbers and/or symbols) not less
      than 7 in characters, supply a valid and
      working email address and GSM number;
      vi. Then, Click on “Continue”
      vii. Login with your username and password;
      viii. Click on ”Pay” (you will make use of a
      Web enabled ATM card, Master or Verve card
      for your payment).
      ix. Candidates are expected to make payment
      of the sum of N7,500) only (Seven Thousand
      five hundred naira only), Exclusive of Bank
      charges.
      x. Complete your application as appropriate
      xi. Fill the application form provided. Ensure
      that you provide accurate data at all times. In
      addition to your personal information, you will
      be required to provide your WAEC/GCE/NECO
      result as well as previous educational history.
      xii. Ensure you print out your Application
      form, fee payment receipt and keep them
      safely.
      xiii. You will be required to upload a colour
      passport photograph of NOT MORE THAN
      20kb in size.
      xiv. Print your completed application form
      before submission. You will be required to
      present this at a later date, so keep it safely.
      xv. Click “Submit”
      4. Successful candidates must adhere strictly to
      the registration procedure as highlighted on the
      Polytechnic website.
      5. The Institution is non-residential. Students will
      therefore be required to make their own
      arrangements for accommodation and
      transportation.
