Ibadan Poly On Strike over students’ protest Against ICT fees

Following a protest over the introduction
of insurance and
ICT fees by the
management of The Polytechnic, Ibadan, the
students of the
institution have been directed to proceed on
a two-week
mid-semester break while the institution has
been shut.
The protesting students, who caused a heavy
traffic gridlock
at the Sango axis of the metropolis, accused
the president
of the institution’s Students’ Union, Tosin
Esho, of being the
brains behind the fees. They insisted they will
not pay the
fees which they note were of no immediate
benefit to them.
On the closure of the school, a statement
from the
management of the institution, signed by the
Registrar, Mr.
Hezekiah Fehintola, said it became effective
and that the students should resume on
March 13.
