Saburi Adesanya , gave the breakdown while
addressing newsmen ahead of the
convocation scheduled to begin on January

partner the OOU by sponsoring researches .
He also noted that the university experienced
low patronage as a result of its previous
unstable calendar.
The VC advised government at all levels to
ensure proper budgeting for research and
funding for universities .
He said , “ The support from government is
low and we must realise that there is no
government that can fund education totally .
Universities require a lot of funding. They will
always need more money to meet up with the
requirements of the 21 st century .
“ We appeal to wealthy Nigerians to invest
and donate to the university. They should
emulate the habit of leaving a legacy in the
university.
“ We need donors and entrepreneurs that can
partner with the university on research . We
have a lot of things in the pipeline to ensure
that our research goes to the next level . ”
He lamented the instability in the academic
calendar of many universities in the country,
adding that it was affecting the quality of
their output .
He said , “ When we are not running a normal
academic calendar, when the infrastructures
are not there, you cannot get the result you
want . The condition that comes with
TETfund is that you can ’ t get grant for a
research if you don ’ t finish one but with
strike actions , it will be difficult to complete
researches
