These revelations were made known by the
Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Charles Esimone FAS, during a media parley with UNIZIK FM Correspondents Iyke Nwokedi and ChiOma Mołunanya.
Prof. Esimone stated that adequate preparations have been made to ensure that the University’s Primary and High Schools will reopen at the time stipulated by the Federal Government while observing all COVID-/9 protocols and Health Directives to ensure the protection of the pupils and their teachers.
The Vice-Chancellor stated that that before this time, he had commissioned a COVID-/9 Surveillance Group in the University with the mandate to go through the FG Guidelines to articulate variables needed in place with respect to physical and social distancing.
The Professor of Biopharmaceutical and
Pharmaceutical Microbiology also stated that the School’s environment had earlier been fumigated for decontamination against the dreaded COVID-19.
Prof. Esimone emphasized that series of meetings have been held with the School’s top echelon on global best practices in anticipation of both Primary and High School resumption although the Exit classes have been earmarked for recommencement of an academic exercise.
Prof. Esimone also posited that non-pharmaceutical methods of prevention such as wearing Facemask and the use of hand sanitizers must be complied with by all stakeholders involved.
