Governor Godwin Obaseki has taken new decision on re-opening schools in Edo state.
Obaseki approved the reopening of schools in the state from August 10 to enable exit students to sit for their final examinations.
The Governor’s decision was confirmed by Jimoh Ijegbai, who is the Commissioner for Education in Edo state.
“Edo Govt okays August 10 resumption date for graduating students in secondary schools,” he said.
The commissioner in his statement reiterates that only Senior Secondary School 3 students that registered for WASSCE or/and National Examination Council examinations (NECO) would be allowed to resume on August 10.
“Only students in SS3 who have enrolled for the WASSCE and schools who have enrolled for the NECO Basic Education Certificate Examinations are to reopen on Monday the 10th of August, 2020,” he added.
Ijegbai also gave reason why they are only allowing SSS 3 students to resume.
“This is to enable operators of schools in the state to complete the modalities for a safe school re-opening.”
