The Champions League quarter final match between Bayern Munich and Barcelona didn’t go according to plan for the Spanish side as they exited the competition after they were mercilessly hammered by Bayern Munich.
Flash back to the 2012/2013 Champions League season, you will recall the 7-0 thrashing of Barcelona by Bayern Munich on aggregate in the semi-final after the German side won the first and second leg 4-0, 3-0 respectively.
Tonight game remained fans of the 2012/2013 Champions League semi-final match between Bayern Munich and Barcelona. The German league Champions have been scoring goals for fun in this season’s Champions League. After defeating Chelsea 7-1 on aggregate, Barcelona were the latest club to taste the wrought of Bayern Munich.
Bayern Munich dominated the game from start to finish dominating the the ball possession by 55% to Barcelona’s 45% according to Super Sports. Bayern were superior with attempted shots. Registering 26 shots with 13 of them on target as oppose to Bacerlona’s 8 shots with 5 on target.
Thomas Muller opened the scoring before David Alaba’s own goal would draw Barcelona level on the night. However, Bayern scored three more goals through Ivan Perisic, Serge Gnarbry and Thomas Muller to end the first half with a 4-1 score-line.
The second half saw Luiz Suarez scoring to make it 4-2. But Bayern ended any hope of a come back after goals from Joshua Kimmich, Robert Lawandowski and a Philippe Countinho’s double saw Barcelona crashed out of the competition with a score line of 8-2.
Who’s next? Is the big question. With Manchester City taking in Lyon tomorrow, Bayern Munich will find out who they face next in the semi-final. Will it be City or Lyon? Only time will tell.
