Seven internet fraudsters popularly called Yahoo Boys who work as a syndicate to defraud Nigerians and foreigners were on Wednesday, August 19, picked up by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in Enugu metropolis.
Their arrest followed intelligence and tip-off received by the officials of the Enugu zonal office of the anti-graft agency who spent some times in monitoring their activities.
According to a statement by the agency on Wednesday evening on its Facebook wall, the internet fraudsters: Ebere Tochukwu; Onuh Harrison; Christian Ogbonna; Ojobo Kingsley, Eze Charles, Princewill Nwalu and Ekene Ibekaku, were arrested at Loma Linda Extension in the Enugu metropolis.
The statement said their arrest followed intelligence signalling them as a syndicate of fraudsters that specialise in defrauding unsuspecting members of the public, especially foreigners, through the internet.
The men were said to have landed in trouble following information given by residents of the area who were not comfortable with their expensive lifestyles despite the fact that they were not engaged in any form of employment or doing any business.
The statement said the suspects have given useful information about their activities in the course of interrogation and will be charged to court soon.
Items said to have been recovered from them at the time of their arrest were three cars: a Lexus ES350, Mercedes Benz C300 and a Toyota Camry Muscle, mobile phones and laptops and printed documents.
