Happy 55-Year Episcopal Anniversary to Francis Cardinal Arinze
We thank God for the gift of the youngest NIgerian-born Cardinal, His Eminence, Francis Cardinal Arinze, and congratulates Your Eminence, as he celebrates his 55-Year Episcopal Anniversary, today, 29th August 2020.
Your Eminence, Francis Cardinal Arinze, you are a dear Father of Catholic and Christian faith of yesterday and today. We thank God for his grace which has been sustaining you thus far.
May our good God continue to sustain you in his grace, healthy life and love, for continuous fruitful years in the Lord’s vineyard. Amen.
May the light of faith, which you ignited, continue to shine. Amen
Born on November 1, 1932, to his parents, Joseph Nwankwu and Bernadette M. Arinze, of Eziowelle, Idemili North LGA, Anambra State, Francis Cardinal Arinze, was ordained a Catholic priest on 23rd November 1958 by Bishop Gregorio Pietro Agagianian, and consecrated a Catholic Bishop on 29th August 1965 by Bishop Charles Heerey.
He was created a cardinal on 25th May 1985 by His Holiness Pope John Paul II (now Saint Pope John Paul II).
A former Prefect of the Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments from 2002 to 2008, and a former Cardinal Bishop of Velletri-Segni, Francis Cardinal Arinze entered the seminary school at the age of 13, and became the youngest metropolitan archbishop in the world at the age of 34.
He was the Coadjutor Bishop of Catholic Archdiocese of Onitsha, 1965–1967; the Catholic Archbishop of Onitsha Archdiocese, 1967–1985; the President, Pontifical Council for Interreligious Dialogue, 1985–2002 and Cardinal-Priest of S. Giovanni della Pigna, 1996–2005
The 87+ years old Cardinal, has Regnum Christi floreat. (May the Kingdom of Christ flourish), as his motto.
