The chairman of the chapter, Comrade Stephen Knabayi said the union gave the directive following the failure of the area council chairmen to pay the minimum wage of the teachers.

We have seen that the area council chairmen are not serious and not committed to the welfare of the teachers. Since FCT administration did not waste time in paying the minimum wage, we expected the area council chairmen to have taken a cue from there and done same,” he said.

He said secondary school teachers would join the primary school teachers on strike in solidarity.

Meanwhile, days after the announcement of the resumption date for all schools in Lagos state, the Education Quality Assurance (OEQA) unit of the state ministry of education has warned the public to disregard a resumption time table flying around on the social media.

The Nation reports that the time-table claims to be the 2020/2021 academic calendar, states that the first term of the session would start September 21, 2020 and end December 18, 2020.

Legit.ng gathered that the state governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, had said that the resumption date he announced was not cast in stone.

In another report, Governor Gboyega Oyetola of Osun state has jettisoned the education policy put in place by his immediate predecessor, Rauf Aregbesola.

Premium Times reports that the Oyetola-led government has ordered all principals and headteachers of public schools in the state to revert to the old names of their various schools.

Legit.ng gathers that the principals were directed to effect the new changes ahead of resumption from coronavirus lockdown.
