University of Benin announces the date for the matriculation of their 2019/2020 academic batch.
Due to the novel pandemic, all university academic calendar has been rendered almost null and void. This is because there is no longer any schedule of activities that await anyone in any school.
If schools were to be active, University students are supposed to be on long vacation from their second semester which would usher them into a new level and session. But unfortunately, today, some schools are still in their first semester, yet to write exams and commence their second semester.
Owing to this, the Vice Chancellor of the University of Benin has announced their plans to conduct this year’s matriculation – virtually.
The above decision was made in respect to the federal government’s Covid-19 preventive orders.
The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Lilian Salami approved of the virtual matriculation ceremony for students admitted into the 2019/2020 admission session.
The University’s PRO, Dr. Benedicta Ehanire disclosed this announcement yesterday Friday 11th Sept. 2020.
Dr. Ehanire said the virtual ceremony would hold on the 15th of Seotember being Tuesday and that only principal officers, few designated officials and student representatives from all the associated campuses, colleges, Institutes, faculties of the university are meant to be in the university premises physically.
According to her, the Provost, deans, directors other matriculatng students and members of the university communities are to participate in the ceremony via a link that would be circulated by the ICT Unit.
She however highlighted on the compulsory use of facemask on that day by those who have been selected to grace the ceremony.
