The Vice Chancellor of Osun State University, UNIOSUN, Prof. Labode Popoola, has revealed that the institution will not be resuming September 21.
Prof. Popoola disclosed this in a chat with NPOReports on Friday.
Recall the Osun State Government had announced that schools in the State can reopen by September 21.
The government disclosed this in a statement by the Commissioner for Information and Civic Orientation, Mrs Funke Egbemode, at the end of this week’s State Executive Council meeting.
Egbemode also said stakeholders were expected to continue to put protocols in place towards the reopening of schools according to the guidelines set by the Federal Ministry of Education.
According to her, all schools in the state are set to resume in phases with effect from September 21 for an abridged third term of the 2019/2020 academic session.
The government however explained that the announced schedule applies only to Primary and Secondary Schools, adding that Tertiary Institutions are also expected to reopen on September 21, but required to plan their schedules.
When asked when the institution is likely to reopen, the Vice Chancellor said, “We will reach out to our stakeholders when we are ready.”
